Owned a 718 GT4 for two years. Sold it. Bought an Emira. The Internet would like me to tell you which is better. The Internet is going to be disappointed.
The Cayman is the more polished car. The interior, the build quality, the dealer experience. The dampers, on the road, are uncannily good. The PDK is a better transmission than the Emira’s manual, in the way that an excellent automatic is always a better transmission than a manual when you are not in the mood to be a hero.
The Emira is the more interesting car. The steering tells you more. The chassis communicates more. The exhaust sounds better. The car feels lighter, even though the spec sheet says it isn’t by all that much. Other Lotus owners wave at you. Other Porsche owners do not.
Pick the Cayman if you want a fast car that’s good. Pick the Emira if you want a fast car that’s yours. These are not the same goal. The Internet does not know how to talk about this.
